Adam Scott wins The Barclays

Australian golfer Adam Scott has moved to second place in the Official Golf World Rankings following his successful play at The Barclays, the first in a series of four playoff events of the season ending FedEx Cup that will crown the FedEx Cup champion at the Tour Championship.

The first ever Australian to win the US Masters, Scott pocketed a handsome payday of $ 1.4 million thanks to some brilliant all round display at the Liberty National Golf Club and can look forward to the Deutsche Bank Championship this weekend as he aims to end the season which saw him win his first ever major title on a high.

With three tournaments still to go on the US PGA Tour, Scott, who won the US Masters back in April, is in a prime position to challenge the authority of a certain Tiger Woods at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings and with the American expected to sit out of the Deutsche Bank Championship, Adam Scott will know he has a good enough chance to close the gap on Tiger Woods at the top of the rankings.

Scott has already won $ 4.6 million this year in a season where he has been extremely consistent and apart from his win at the US Masters, he has also earned nine finishes in the top 25 as well. And having been pushed so hard by the likes of Justin Rose and Tiger Woods for the title, Scott seemed very surprised that he managed to hold out till the end.

Speaking to the media, Adam Scott stated that the feeling hasn’t sunk in yet, and added that the year has been a great one for him and he is looking forward to adding some more silverware to his collection before the year is out.
